Teddy Bear Christmas Sweets again! AND Black Friday sale!!

I'm having some fun with teddy bears this Christmas!  And what better way to do that than to make a card with them in traditional Christmas colours and trimmings!  I have one of the characters from the new Teddy Bear Sweet clear stamp set, carrying his big load of candy canes; I imagine he's heading to the tree to hang them all on the branches!
I coloured the teddy with a layer of Copics first.  Then, I went over most of it with coloured pencil to really bring it out.  I masked it off with the new NoFuss Masks from Whimsy - oh my, that makes masking so quick and easy, no fussy cutting your own mask out! I highly recommend because not only are they quick and easy, they also protect really well, and, they are re-useable if you take them off gently enough! You can get about three uses out of each mask!  And there's no sticky residue left on your card.  It's all a win-win!
Anyhoo, once it was masked, I sponged and blended a couple of Oxide inks - Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio, with a tiny dab of Rustic Wilderness for a shadow on the ground under his body.  Then I used the super cute Fadoodle Holly set by Faye, (LOVE you Faye, waving!!) to decorate the corners and border.  I stamped the holly, coloured it, fussy cut it and glued it down in the corners.
The striped paper came from the digital pack shown below called "I Dream In Christmas"- I had it on my computer screen in my Pages program, and was able to stretch it out to fill the page.   I wanted to do that so I could make the angled layer that you see with the stripes going at a 45 degree angle (so it had to fill the whole page).  I printed it off and trimmed it to fit my card panel.
Don't forget to take advantage of the Black Friday sale!! Details in the image above!

Elves On Christmas (again!)

Elves On Christmas clear stamp set at Whimsy Stamps makes up such a fun card, with three little elves to choose from. For this card, I chose the elf that is seated on a wrapped candy! You can see other samples of other elves if you type Elves On Christmas into the search bar on this blog (jussayin!).  I coloured the elf with Copic markers, and added a little bit of white paint pen on the wrapper to give it that transparent look.  I then fussy cut around the image so I could place it on a background I was intending to make.
The background was made by sponging on three distress inks onto white card - Salvaged Patina, Stormy Sky, and Faded Jeans.  I trimmed it to the size I wanted, then I used a home made stencil to do some splatter technique with a white paint and watercolour brush.  After the spatters were dry, I stamped the sentiment.  The stencil is one I made myself on white card, by cutting out some swirly longish strips.  For this scene, I wanted to make it look like the swirls were magical pixie dust.  I used a glue pen and some glass glitter (Twinklets Diamond Dust) to make it look all sparkly and magical. I love the effect!

Gnome Warm Wishes

Here's a little Gnome Santa to ignite your imagination!  I had such a good time colouring him up and giving him a snowy winter scene.  I created a mask for him and for the candy cane, then went to work creating some "hills" with the dies shown below (I did continue the hills slightly with freehand cutting with scissors because I wanted a longer hill).  I used the die cut curves to mask off where I wanted the hills to go.  Then I sponged on some Oxide inks to bring out the hills and the sky.  After I was done the background, I took the masks off and coloured the image up with Copic markers.  The snow in the foreground was also done with the markers.  The final touches were the snowy sky and the sentiment (that sentiment is from a discontinued set).  For the snowy swirls, I had made a cardboard stencil the other day, with some swirls I had cut out, so I just re-masked Santa, and laid the homemade stencil over top, then using my Copic white paint and a watercolour brush, used the spatter technique to fill in the swirly holes of the stencil.  I added a few random spatters here and there to complete the scene.

Christmas Critter Wishes

It is just so fun to create a scene with various Whimsy elements to help along the way!  I love love love using stencils and Oxide inks to "help" fill in the background!  I also REALLY love the new No Fuss Masks at Whimsy, gosh they make masking an image so easy peasy, and quick too!
I coloured the image, trimmed the panel to make a square, and then proceeded to mask off where I needed.  I used a No Fuss mask on the unicorn (see below for a link!) first.  Then I masked off a curved hill near the unicorn's feet, using a die from the the Stitched Border Trio. Then, I die cut the large "Snowy Tree and placed that to the right of the image to use it as a mask; I didn't want to get any ink in that area so I had to keep it clear of colour, in the shape of a tree.  So using the die cut as a mask worked wonders for this technique!  It made it possible for me to go back in and colour up a tree, just like you see here, on the right.  I did something similar on the left with some birch tree shapes as well.  Then, Once everything was masked up where I didn't want any Oxide ink to go, I was ready to apply the Oxides.   I started with the hill behind the unicorn and birch trees.  I used Speckled Egg to sponge a bit of shadow on that hill.  Then I grabbed the Winter Wonderland Stencil and Old Paper and Shabby Shutters inks, and went to town creating the trees in the background.  I lifted off the stencil, and used some Tumbled Glass Oxide ink for the sky and I put a few bits of it here and there on the first snowy hill I had made.  After that I was able to peel almost all the masks away (except for the unicorn, I left that one on) and began colouring the two birch trees, the evergreen on the right, and the shadows on the snow in the foreground using Copic markers for all the details.
When all the colouring was complete, I got Copic white paint and a watercolour brush, and spattered the snowflakes all over.  Once it was dry (only takes a couple minutes, it dries so fast), I peeled off the No Fuss mask from the unicorn.  I finished it off by stamping the sentiment, and then it was just a matter of layering it up and putting it on a card base.

Doggie Valentine Friends Christmas card

This doggie, from a Valentine's set, quickly became a Christmas doggie just by adding the hat (from Christmas Doggies clear set)!  I had a fun time creating the scene - I used a hand made stencil with swirls cut out of it to make a swirly snowy sky.   I just used the Oxide ink the make a nice inky blue, then used Copic white paint and a water colour brush to splatter on the snow through the stencil.  I love the effect!
I cut out a couple of Mountain Majesty die cuts for the background, and then a few more "hills" using the Stitched Border Trio, and the little panel with the sentiment is from the Quick Strips die set. I had to use two die cut panels from Mountain Majesty, but they are joined together behind the doggie, so you can't see the seams.
I coloured the doggie and the hat with Copics, and fussy cut them out to place where I needed them to go in the scene.

Cat Do Christmas!

You know you are making a fun card when you keep giggling as you make it... heheheheh! I coloured the images using Copics first, and then went over that first layer of colour with some coloured pencils.  I made the green background by spatter painting white Copic paint through a home made stencil (that I had cut swirls into).  Cut out the images with the Notched Squares die to give me two panels to place on the green background.  The Loopie die made a nice tie in for the panels, drawing your eye from one to the other.  I actually used the Sun Rays stencil to colour the red stripes on the loopie with some Color Box ink.

Christmas Doggies 3rd card!

Another Christmas Doggie card, and this one didn't take long to make!  I coloured the image with Copics, and look how the colour of the doggie's sled (BG72, 75) look against the backdrop of the sheet from Frozen paper pack!  It's like they were made for each other!  I fussy cut the image out so I could place him exactly where I wanted on this hill.  I used the Nightmare die (one that came out at Halloween, but does great double duty for Christmas too!) and used a white paint pen to dot all my snow and outline the die cut too.  It is a bit longer doing it this way (as opposed to splatter painting with a brush) but you know, I sometimes like to take that time as it can be like meditating!
All I had to do after that was die cut the Merry and Bright word die (I only used the "merry" as you can see), and stamp the word Christmas from Faye's cute set, Fadoodle Holly.

Christmas Doggies 2nd card

Sometimes I find it fun to make up a quicker (for me) card where I don't create the background, but instead use a beautiful sheet of paper designed for Whimsy Stamps! This is a case of, the paper was too pretty to cover up!  And I found it went so well with this little doggie and the die cut snowflakes! The outside striped layer was made by cutting strips of a sheet that I printed from Christmas Traditions digital paper.  I coloured the doggie with Copic markers.  Here is your close-up:
