Christmas Deer

If you haven't seen my post from yesterday, would you please scroll down? It's an important post about my nephew's plight.  His home and his relatives' homes and farm property/equipment were devastated by the recent floods in BC.  He has a Go-Fund-Me that is asking for donations to rebuild their lives.  Please, if we all chip in, we can help these families.  Even if all you can give is a couple bucks, please, do so. And please re-post the Go-Fund-Me page on all your social media to help spread the word.  If that is all you can do, I would so appreciate that as well.  Everything they owned was ruined by the muddy waters that engulfed their homes for many days.  Please, please help. Even if you can't give anything, re-posting it will help too! Thank you!
Now, on to the card details!
This is a remake of a card I did a few posts back, only this time, I made it purple for my purple-loving daughter.  Every year I make at least one purple card and it always goes to her.  She always loves it too!
In case you didn't see the other one, this is a deer from the Christmas Deer set at Whimsy Stamps.
After I coloured the deer with Copic markers, I masked it, and then I sponged on some Distress Oxide inks to fill in the purple sky. I spritzed it with water to create the water stains, then spattered the Copic White with a paintbrush for the snowfall.  I used some stamps from the Dash Away set to create a town off in the distance below the deer. I stamped them first on a scrap of paper to get rid of some ink, so that they would look a bit faded, and as a result, appear more distant.

Devastating Flood

This is my nephew's home.  Three families, his and his relatives places were devastated by the floodwaters that went through Abbotsford British Columbia recently.  Their house and farmland was under eight feet of water and there is not much left, if anything.  They will need hundreds of thousands to rebuild not only their homes and personal belongings but to replace ruined farm equipment as well, which is needed for their livelihood.

There is a current Go-Fund-Me page with the whole story plus updates by his son Isaak. Please, even if all you can give is a few dollars, if we all chip in, it will all help.  Thank you for listening.

Happy Owlidays!

This little owl makes up a quick and easy card with a lot of impact! He's from "Happy Owlidays" clear stamp set at Whimsy Stamps. I paired it with a paper from the digital (print-at-home) pack called "Christmas Azure", the perfect set of papers if you are going for some non-traditional yet still Christmassy papers! Here's a closeup of the colouring (all Copic markers):

Yeti and Penguin

What a fun combo to put Yeti with a Penguin and to show them as best friends! I used images from three sets for this card: Yeti For Love (the big guy!) Yeti For Christmas (for the sentiment) and my latest penguin one, Penguin Winter (the penguin of course, and the trees!). I coloured them with Copic markers, cut everything out, and pasted them onto this beautiful ready-to-go background paper from the slimline paper pack at Whimsy Stamps called "Frozen".  All I had to so was add a little shadow under their feet and under the trees to make it look like they were "grounded" on the snowy surface.  Here is your close-up!

Fleece Navidad

Ok, so now that the song is going through your head, lol!  (sorry!!... not sorry!!! ha ha)
I created the green background paper with Oxide Inks (man, I love those!) and spritzed with water, and then splashed white Copic ink all over it.  Fleece Navidad is a digital image from Whimsy Stamps of this cute little Christmas lamb. I coloured the lamb on a separate paper (Hammermill 100 lb) using mostly Copics but some coloured pencils too.  I cut it out with a Stitched Circle die from Whimsy, and filled in the area all round the lamb with a selection of green markers. Then I dropped blender solution carefully around the lamb to give it the bokeh effect.  All I had to do after that was put it together and the old (discontinued) chipboard that I had in my stash did a nice job of tying it all together.

Christmas Deer

I had so much fun with this one! I first stamped the deer on my Hammermill Cover Copy 100 lb paper, coloured it, then stamped it again on a regular printer sheet and fussy cut out that second one to use as a mask.  After I taped the mask overtop of my coloured deer, I was able to sponge on several Oxide Inks - I used Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass starting at the top with the darkest and getting lighter as I worked my way down to the bottom. While I still had the mask firmly in place, I spritzed the whole thing with water to create that mottled effect.  I then used some Copic White paint to splatter some snowflakes all over.  I carefully painted the snowflakes coming off the hooves in a swirly pattern for that added magical look!  For the houses and trees, using Chipped Sapphire, I stamped them off once to get the bulk of the ink off, so that when I stamped them on my panel they would look like they do - faded and like they are in the snowstorm. All I had to do after that was stamp the sentiment, trim it and layer it onto the card.  Products used:

Gnome Warm Wishes, Penguin Winter, and Christmas Deer, all in one card!

I can't tell you how much fun it is to create winter scene cards! It is my absolute favourite - all those blues, and the red and green, wow, they really pop when put together! This time all the elements on the main panel are stamps (nothing hand-drawn).  I used characters and elements from three sets! The Santa is from Gnome Warm Wishes. The penguin and bunny are from Christmas Deer and the trees and hills are from Penguin Winter.

The beautiful background paper is a sheet from Blurry Flurries.  Thanks so much for looking!

Christmas Critter Wishes

It is such a wonderful time of year to be making cards with the Grands in mind, and this set, Christmas Critter Wishes is a perfect array of all the animals wee ones love to see!  I chose the deer for this setting, a snowy forest scene (I sketched with Copic markers).  Deer was also coloured with Copics plus a bit of coloured pencil layering on top. Paper is from the beautiful Blurry Flurries paper.

CYBER MONDAY!

Christmas Bunny Row

An oldie but a goodie, Christmas Bunny Row remains one of my best sellers for Christmas cards! And it is super fun to use! I love that it comes in two sizes; this is the original size, and then there is an extended version for a slimline card too!
I coloured them with Copics, and then I used a white gel pen to make the snow falling in the sky.  Yes, I enjoy doing every dot by hand, lol!  Thanks for looking!

Gnome Warm Wishes #2

Get in on the sale!! Jussayin! ;-)

Thought I would try this again with a different colour palette.  I can't decide which one I like more, today's or yesterday's! These are images from the clear set, "Gnome Warm Wishes" from Whimsy Stamps.  Such fun time creating a scene with these!

I continued the tree trunk above the holly, which is not how long the image is in the set; however, it is not a difficult sketch at all if you want to do the same, or, just mask and stamp it again above the holly.  The background trees were hand sketched.  Everything coloured with Copic markers. Thanks for looking!
