Teddy Bear Christmas Sweet (again!)

Another purple Christmas card and this time featuring a teddy bear from the Teddy Bear Christmas Sweet set at Whimsy Stamps!  I coloured it with Copic markers and then used Whimsy's new line of fancy shmancy No Fuss Masks (so quick and easy!) to mask it up, and then I sponged on Shaded Lilac Oxide ink to give it a beautiful purple background. I used a tiny light swipe of Wilted Violet under the bear for some shadow where he's sitting.

Santa's Magic!

I'm still going strong on Christmas cards over here, and having a lot of fun getting into the spirit of the season!  For this card I wanted to make a magical scene with Santa flying through the sky.  The other six reindeer were taking a bit of a break I guess, heheh, but that's allowed.
I wanted to do a fainter line on the stamped image, and so I used a grey - however, after the colouring was done, I did go over certain lines and re-draw over them with a Copic liner pen because they did need to be defined - especially around the character's eyes, nose, mouth and eyebrows, but also a bit on the sleigh runners and reins.  Other than that, I used Copic colours all over the main image and in the shadows of the moon, but all of the sky and trees was done using Oxide inks.
I actually had the image stamped first, with no colour, then carefully cut out a mask to put on top of it.  I also cut out a circle to use as a mask where I wanted the moon to go.  Once the image and the moon were masked, I went to town sponging on the Oxide inks.  I started with Speckled Egg and Tumbled Glass in a halo around the moon, then Stormy Sky blended gradually into Prize Ribbon.  While everything was still masked up, I used the Winter Wonderland stencil and Black Soot to give me the tree silhouettes.  I was careful in how I ended the trees at the bottom - I wanted to avoid any abrupt endings, so I went back over the bottom areas under the trees with some more Stormy Sky and Prize Ribbon until it looked all misty and blended nicely.
I left it overnight to dry because I didn't want any smears happening when I was colouring up the image and the moon! Once I was done colouring everything, I used a home made stencil and spattered on the little bits of snow in the pattern you see.  I took the stencil away and added a few more spatters here and there, then stamped the sentiment and called it done.

Purple Christmas card! Racoons...

Every Christmas I do up at least one card in a purple theme for a purple loving daughter of mine!  I thought it would do well if I used a racoon from Raccoon How've You Bin, and put him under a Christmas hat (from the Christmas Accessories digital set).  The green goes well with the purple, don't you think?  I love it.  To make this card you have to be prepared to do some fussy cutting and masking so that you can make it look like the hat is on the raccoon, and then sponge on the Oxide inks for the background sky, trees and snow! I coloured the hat and raccoon with Copic markers, but everything else is Oxide inks and the falling snow is Copic white paint on a watercolour brush and then spattered by tapping the brush lightly.  For the soft snowy hills, I just used some hand cut "hills" on scrap paper to use as masks for when I lightly sponged on the Shaded Lilac Oxide ink.

Woodland Critters with Sandy Allnock inspired background!

I had the pleasure of doing a Copic colouring course with Sandy Allnock and it was super fun!  I do recommend her classes as they are so easy to follow and fun to do.  This background was inspired by one of her classes and I love how it turned out!  I thought the deer (from my Woodland Critters Clear stamp set) was the perfect character to put into the scene.  I had made the background first, so I had to fussy cut the deer and the little bird and glue them in place.  I also hand drew a Santa hat to add to the deer to make it a little more Christmassy!
The beautiful word die, "believe" was coated with Wink of Stella for some sparkle after I had glued it on.

Monster Daze Christmas!

Heheh, I know some people feel like these monsters do around Christmas time, so I thought it would be funny to do up a card showing their expressions!  I laughed out loud when I saw it all finished with the sentiment.  Heheh!
This is a lot of fun to make, and you can re-create it with some fancy shmancy masking techniques and lot of patience! I had to hand cut the following for masking - the larger candy canes (from Gnome Warm Wishes), the two monsters, and their hats!  I initially coloured everything with Copic markers, with the exception of the sky, which was done with sponging on Tumbled Glass and Prize Ribbon Oxide inks.
It was a bit of a heart stopping moment when I started sponging the Tumbled Glass over the more distant and mid ground candy canes - believe me, not for the faint of heart! After all that colouring, at this point, if something goes wrong, it is a scary thought! But thankfully the ink and my hand and the sponge worked in concert, and everything turned out well! I did go over some of the more distant hills with a light coating of Faded Jeans Oxide and even a few sweeps of Prize Ribbon ink as well.  Then, I had the fun of splattering on the snow using Copic White on a paintbrush and tapping it until I had filled the sky and some of the mid and foreground too.  Then it was off with the masks, and to finish it off, I added a few splatters of snow on the large candy canes and the characters - but I kept it light so that they didn't disappear under a hail of snow!
Another heart stopping moment was putting on the sentiment from Christmas Moments - dang, I am happy I have a stamping platform! I don't know what I would do without it (yeah I do, ruin many a card, that is what I would do, ha ha!).
