Sheltering Love (again!)

It's so easy to do the soft hills with Oxide inks and so I couldn't resist creating another Sheltering Love card.  Since there are no trees where the polar bears live, you don't have to worry about any details - just a few hills to depict the snowy terrain.
All I did was colour the image (I used Copics), fussy cut it, and set it aside, then went about creating the hills.  I created some hill "masks" out of scrap paper.  I simply cut a few rounded shapes to lay on top of my main image paper, and then I held them firmly (you can tack them down with temporary adhesive if you don't trust your hands!), and then with a sponge dauber full of ink, I sponged on the colour.   I began   with the sponge dauber on the mask (this is important because it removes the bulk of the ink), and then whisked it towards the page where I wanted the shadows to fall.   Just two colours, Antique Linen and Speckled Egg.  Hint - don't saturate the paper with them - use a light touch, and less is more!  Also, I only used a teeny tiny bit of the Antique Linen over the top of the hills to depict the sunset colours reflecting on the top of them.  I also cut out a mask of the main image to ink the shadow on the ground in front of them.  I hope you try this with your polar bear or penguin images, it is really a fun and creative process, and the results speak for themselves!

Sheltering Love

This is one of the images in the Sheltering Love Clear Stamp Set from Whimsy Stamps.  This particular image is a re-make of an older stamp I did years ago, and I revised it to fit the clear stamp format, and gave it a new look!  I made some happy little bear cub images to go with it too!  I coloured up this one with the Mom and cubs and then fussy cut it to put on the background I had created.  The mountains, trees and some of the hills were made with the Mountain Majesty Die set.  I love that set - it makes a really cute, whimsical scene.  I coloured the snowy hills using Copics and then I sponged on some Oxide inks as well to really blend out the blues. Another card done for my Christmas stash!
also used (no photo avail)
I do get compensated for purchases made through my links and/or purchases made from the line of products I design for Whimsy Stamps, so thank you for your support. I appreciate it very much.

Penguin Snow Days

The penguins are at it again! Having fun on a snow day.  I had fun making this card, and hope to make many more with this set - there's four different penguin images to choose from doing various snowy day stuff, plus the hills and trees image to complete the scene with ease.  I can see myself using it often for my winter cards!
I added some Wink of Stella Sparkle to the snow, which shows up nicely in real life (had to angle the card to show it in a photo).
I coloured this scene with Copics, colouring the penguin first, and fussy cutting it out to glue on later, then coloured the hills and trees and sky.  I used a gorgeous sheet from the 6x6 paper pack at Whimsy Stamps called "Blurry Flurries" and I just keep buying it when I run out of it, I love it so much! The doodling around the frame I did by hand as a final touch.  And now I'm having a senior's moment and can't remember where the "let it snow" sentiment came from!
I popped up the main scene layer with foam tape to give it some dimension.
I get compensated for any purchases you make by following my links, or purchasing anything from my line at Whimsy Stamps, so thank you if that's you!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Florida Strong - Hurricane Ian Relief

Whimsy's image illustrators (including yours truly - I drew the alligator and little orange and orange blossoms) have combined their skills to create a very special stamp set. 100% of the funds collected will be donated by Whimsy to help local South West Florida families in need of hurricane relief! What a great idea Denise had, to bring us all together, to help with relief efforts.  You can buy this set to keep forever and use on what ever project you want, and you can feel really good about it, knowing that all of your money will go to this worthy cause.  Click on the link below, and be sure to read all of the information about it on the Whimsy website, so that you understand when the set will be forthcoming to your door.  Since it is a limited time offer, don't put this off or you will miss out!

Sheltering Love

This is one of the bears from the Sheltering Love Clear Stamps set, which features a re-make of Sheltering Love (edited to fit the clear stamp format), plus some cute bear cubs and sentiments to go with the set! I just love making scenes for my characters and this one was super easy to do because I had the tree stamps and the snowbank stamp already from last year's Penguin Winter set!  I coloured the main image and scene around it with Copic markers. The naked trees were just hand drawn, as were the clouds and distant hills.  The sentiment stamps are found in the Christmas Critter Wishes clear stamp set.  The pretty purple-ish paper is also from a gorgeous paper pad at Whimsy called Blurry Flurries.
Your close-up is below, as are the links, which, really help me out if you follow them to make a purchase, as I get compensated for sales from my links (and of course, if you purchase any of my images from the Crissy Armstrong Collection at Whimsy Stamps!).  Thank you for visiting!
