High Hopes Blog Hop Stops HERE!
You found me! If you are playing the HH Blog Hop, you need look no farther! This card displays the blog candy I will be offering for this round! It includes Albert, dragon prints, the ribbon/rose 2 piece set as well as the saying "Bewareth...".
I will close this contest on Thursday Oc 9/08 at one o'clock EST. Everyone who comments on this card will get a chance to win the blog candy! I will use the numbers for your comment, and let my DH Mike pick a number from a hat. I will announce the winner in the afternoon on Thursday!
I colored Albert with three mediums; Prismacolor pencils, Twinkling H2O's, and Copics. I never combined all three before, but I do like how it turned out! What is great about starting with the Prismas, is the waxy binder in the pencils form a coating on the paper that the Twinkling H2O's can sit on. This protects the paper from warping and pilling as the water does not soak in, but stays on top of the surface. The Copics on top of that provide deeper and more vibrant colors. It is fun to layer colors and mediums!
I must add that I case'd this card off of Michelle (a bit!) because I loved her idea of fitting Albert into an oval. Look at her beauty of a card here.
TFL, and have fun playing today!

ReplyDeleteHi crissy,
ReplyDeleteI have forever admired your work....And so i hope you don't mind if i ask a question....
when adding all your vi brant colours together all at once can you tell me why you would add an alchohol based marker as well as a waterbased marker together.I was told because alcohol and water actually repel one another that mixing them would cause the different inks to smear...my question is how did you succeed and having this not happen...do you mind sharing a trick of the trade?
Thanks
Phebe
Hi Phebe; I don't know how else to get in touch with you to answer other than here, so I hope you come back to read my reply to your question!
ReplyDeleteI had initially colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with Gamsol. This covered the paper where ever there was color, with a layer of wax, as that is what is in colored pencils to bind the pigments together.
Anyhoo, the watercolor sat on top of that and when it was perfectly dry, that is when I added the Copics in a final step. It didn't smear at all, probably because I waited until the paints were bone dry. This was an experiment for me, and I really had no idea if it would work or not, but obviously it did, so you can try it for yourself and be successful too!
Thanks for your comments!
You did such a great job coloring! I've never thought of using all three mediums before, so now I'll have to. =)
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgeous! I have never thought of combining so many mediums when colouring. Normally i only use 1 maybe 2 if i am missing a colour, but you have brough t back the fact that with this hobby the posibilities are endless, thanks for the reminder!
