Welcome to the ... Whimsy Stamps September release BLOG HOP!

The Whimsy Stamps DT and GDT have been sharing some amazing creations made with the new stamps and dies over the last couple of days, and today we are celebrating their release with a GRAND BLOG HOP!  For today's project, I have used "Jungle Bells Two" and coloured it mainly with Copics.  After I was done the Copics I noticed that the greys were not blended as much as I wanted, so I went over the grey areas with coloured pencil to give it more gradation.  It is fine to mix alcohol markers with coloured pencils, as long as you use the pencils last.  If you use alcohol markers on top of coloured pencil, the alcohol melts the wax binding in the pencil marks and the wax builds up on the marker tip, rendering it useless. So always, marker first, pencils last!

Jungle Bells 1

Welcome to Day 1 of our ... 2014 Holiday Release - Part 1

We are super excited to announce that this month's release is our very first HOLIDAY RELEASE of 2014! We have so many fantastic holiday stamps and dies this year that we have split them into 2 releases. We are releasing part 1 of the collection this week, and will release the second part next month. Over the next 3 days we will reveal 22 *BRAND NEW* red rubber stamps/stamp sets and 7 *BRAND NEW* coordinating die/die sets. They will be available to buy from the Whimsy Stamps store and selected Whimsy Stamps retailers on Wednesday. We are thrilled to welcome Linda, Lis and Stephanne as our Guest Designers for this release. We are also excited to welcome some of our artists as guest designers this month. Welcome ladies!

Happy Birthday To Ewe!

A birthday card for someone special.   It features the rubber stamps, "Happy Birthday To Ewe"which (at the time of this posting) is currently on sale at 31% off the original price.  The sentiment is part stamp, part hand drawn (bet you can guess which is which).  I believe it came from an older set by Raindrop Echo of Whimsy, but is now retired. 

Background Paper is from Whimsy as well, Vintage Basic - also on sale at the time of this posting, at 20%off!

A Little Thank Ewe!

 Just a little "thank ewe" card (har har!!) I made for a friend.  I used my digi titled, "Spring Lamb," and coloured it entirely with Copic markers. Inked a little distress ink around the outer edges of the square afterwards, just for fun. Sentiment is hand printed with a black liner marker.

Special Friends

 A birthday card for someone special.  I titled this rubber image, "Special Friends."  It is coloured with a combination of Copics and Prismacolour Pencils.  I also have this image in the Whimsy Print collection, already coloured similar to what you see here, but with a white background.  The prints are currently on sale, marked down 20%, so get em while you can! These are like card toppers with pre-coloured and cut images. They are so handy to have when you need to make a card in a hurry.

I rode horses bareback a lot when I was younger, and I would often give them a hug just like this girl.  So I guess you could say this is a portrait of me in my riding days!

Butterfly Friends (on sale too!)

 Hi Peeps!  How is your summer going? It has been a cool one and we haven't had any real heat waves to speak of.  I LOVE IT!  The heat just melts me to a puddle, so I am really enjoying the cool days we have been having.  I will take wearing a sweater over dripping with sweat any day! lol

R.I.P. Avro Arrow Armstrong

As I used to call you, "my furry girlfriend."
We had to say goodbye "for now" to our beloved fluffy girl Avro.
We will see you in Heaven dear one.  In the meantime, run and play and eat all the cookies you want to.  You will never be sick or sore again.  You are now completely free. 

I will always love you my pet. 

Hippie Birthday, Man!

I have a couple of cards to share with you today, that I made using my brand spankin' new rubber release "Hippie Birthday, Man" for Whimsy Stamps!  (for a peek at all my latest rubber images, follow this LINK).  I was born in the sixties, and although I was really young for most of it, I do remember "Flower Power", the long hair, bell-bottoms and bandanas! I coloured both images with Copics, but, I wanted to see what I'd get by using coloured pencil on top to continue the blending.  The first one (purple and green background paper) has the coloured pencil added on top of the Copics.  The second one (green and blue bg ppr) has no coloured pencil.  The only blatant difference I see is on the bird's chest, and I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference on this particular image.  Anyway, just experimenting with colour mediums.  Experimentation is how you grow as an artist!  

Both of these cards went to friends who like to make cards with me.  I hope they enjoy them!

The Digital DT call will end on June 5th
Are you a paper crafter looking to contribute to a design team by creating with digital stamps? Do you love sharing your artwork with others? Are you a team player, a dedicated and hard working person, and willing work along side other designers sharing your creativity? Are you organized and able to meet deadlines? If you answered YES to these questions, Whimsy Stamps is looking for you!

This is an open design team call for anyone from anywhere to join our Whimsy Stamps Digital team! You MUST have a well-maintained blog and be willing to share your Whimsy Stamps Digital creations each week. The DT term will run from July 1st through December 2014.

Each Digi Team Designer is asked to...

* share one project per week on his/her blog (applicants must have a blog),

* participate in our monthly releases and blog hop,
* Participate in our monthly challenge on our Whimsy Inspires Challenge blog.

* become a member of our private Facebook group,

* share your artwork on our Facebook Fan page, Whimsy Blog, and any other online community you belong to,

* promote Whimsy Stamps by using our images, mentioning Whimsy news and promotions, and linking to our shop.

In exchange for DT work and helping to promote our products...

* members will have access to our digital stamps for use in weekly DT projects,

* members will receive a DT discount of 20% off, on all Whimsy shop purchases, while a member of our team,
* personal bio and photo will be placed on our blog.
