HHC17 and IC166 EDIT! :BLOG CANDY ALERT

Besides the weekly blog candy offered by Tina of High Hopes Stamps over at the High Hopes blog, also, Michelle has a huge offering of blog candy going on at her blog right now!! Don't miss out on your chance to win!

Time for another challenge over at the High Hopes Blog! This week it is a sketch challenge brought to you by the lovely Katharina Frei! I chose to use it for another Valentine, and I think this one will be going to my DH Mike, who is the King, at least in my part of the jungle! Or you could say, he is my mane squeeze, which is the saying I intend for the inside!
I used Saturday's IC166 for some inspiration as well. More deets on my SCS gallery.
I stamped my High Hopes Leo (who happens to be my all time favorite stamp that I illustrated) with Tsukeneko Tuxedo Black ink onto Magna paper and colored him with Copics. I started with the lightest shade and kept deepening the shades a little at a time, building up the layers. I would go back and blend with the lightest shade overtop. When I was done all the coloring, I went over some places with a white gel pen to highlight and to give his fur some texture. You can see it better up close.
I just got a Cuttlebug last week and so I went a little nuts with die cuts on this card (as you can see!).
I used my sewing machine just to pierce the card (its not working right to actually sew). I threaded a darning needle with tapestry thread and sewed the red thread along the edges by hand, once I had made a row of piercing. All the off-white layers are distressed with ink and with a metal ruler. One of the skinny panels is wrapped at the bottom with red paper strand I got at the dollar store. The puffy red heart is also a dollar store embellishment and I poked a hole in it with my paper drill and put a brad into it (same thing with the hearts on the main image panel).
Don't forget that if you play the challenge this week and post a link to your creation on the HH blog, your name will be entered into the draw for a chance to win two free High Hopes Stamps!
Thanks for looking today, and God bless you! And may you know His Big Lion-y Love for YOU!
